KUALA LUMPUR, Friday, 28th April 2023 – The Vice President of the Chinese Medicine Culture Research Association and the President of the Bird’s Nest Branch, Mr. Zhong Jianming had on today led a delegation of 10 Chinese business representatives to meet the Dato’ Dr. Ammar Abd. Ghapar, Director General for Tourism Malaysia at the Malaysian Ministry of Culture and Tourism (MOTAC). Mr. Dennis Na, President of Malaysia-China Tourism, Business & Culture Exchange Association and President of Teda TAC Global Sdn Bhd, and his team had a friendly discussion to jointly promote the implementation plan for the China-Malaysia cultural industry project. The two parties signed a strategic cooperation agreement for the China-Malaysia cultural tourism project under the witness of Dato’ Dr Ammar, committing to the steady development of the strategic cooperation project.
Dato’ Dr. Ammar Abd. Ghapar, Director General of Tourism Malaysia, stated that Malaysia and China have a long-standing and deep friendship, and that Malaysia hopes to establish a long-term, harmonious strategic partnership with China in the tourism industry. He mentioned that this year, Malaysia is targeting 5 million tourists from China, up from 2 million last year, and is studying a more convenient visa management system to attract more Chinese tourists to Malaysia. The Director General also noted that the two countries will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China next year.
Chairman Zhong Jianming of the China Pharmaceutical Culture Society stated that the association is committed to shaping tourism with culture, promoting tourism with business, and promoting culture with tourism. He noted that the agreement signed between the two parties marks a new chapter in the history of bilateral relations and promotes the development of cultural industries at home and abroad.
In addition, Mr. Dennis Na, president of the Malaysia-China Tourism, Business & Culture Exchange Association, and CEO of Teda TAC Global stated that the Malaysia side is willing to establish a strategic cooperative relationship with the China Pharmaceutical Culture Society to carry out extensive cooperation in the fields of cultural exchanges and to promote strong cooperation between Malaysia and China in various fields of cultural and tourism cooperation, including traditional Chinese medicine culture, southern medicine industry, bird’s nest industry, durian industry, comprehensive health care, tourism industry, etc.
The two parties signed a strategic cooperation agreement based on the principles of equality, mutual benefit, and complementary advantages. The main forms of the agreement for the China-Malaysia Cultural Tourism Project include developing tourism investigation projects, holding regular cultural and tourism exchange meetings, and reviewing the development of cultural tourism projects.
Looking forward, it is forecasted that the strategic cooperation project will not only promote the cultural and tourism industries in China and Malaysia, but also bring significant economic benefits to both countries. According to industry experts, the agriculture and tourism trade value between the two countries could potentially reach USD 15 billion in the next five years, creating new opportunities for investment and cooperation. The two sides will continue to make overall plans to promote the development of relations in the next stage and cooperation in various fields of the big health industry, promote the development of the cultural industry, and further strengthen China-Malaysia relations.
